MLGW partnered with us to host the MLGW/SCS Project Green Schools A-Blazing Race in the Spring of 2015.
Four of our middle school Green teams competed to design and construct the fastest solar-powered car. They participated in an Engineering workshop hosted by MLGW Engineers and guest professors from the University of Memphis Herff College of Engineering. Sherwood Middle won for fastest car and Cordova Middle won for best use of recyclables. Cammesha Sims, Assistant Principal of Treadwell Middle hosted an MLGW Energy-Saving workshop

Project Green Schools Receives National Recognition
For the third year in a row, the School District Scholarship program at the Center for Green Schools is providing districts with a unique opportunity to build capacity and advance their sustainability work. This year’s scholarship recipients will receive targeted education and technical assistance from USGBC and its partners, as well as valuable connections to a network of the nation’s green schools experts.
The 2016–17 scholarship cohort includes five diverse districts from across the country:
Green team leaders, Audry Hawkins and Ms. Smith and the Hickory Ridge Middle Green team greet the Energy Hog. The Green team shared their plan to save energy at their school at a Pep rally. Great job Hickory Ridge!
Martha Cummings and her Green team at Jackson Elementary have finished their SEAT (Student Energy Audit Training) and are ready to save some energy!
